To the Right Honorable and most vertuous Lady, the Lady LVCIE Countesse of Bedford: grace and peace, with increase of all holynesse and happinesse.

CLARISSIMO, Viro & doctrina & pietate prae∣stanti, Domino Clementi Throgmortono equiti aurato, gratiam pacem & omnia prospera.

A Table conteyning the number of the Questions, which are, by occasion pro∣pounded and resolued.

The worlds resurrection.

I also am an Israelite.

Whom he hath fore-knowne.

Know yee not what the scripture saith of Elias?

How he maketh request vnto God speaking against Israell.

They haue killed thy Prophets and digged downe thine Alters.

And I am left alone.

I haue reserued vnto my selfe.

To my selfe 7000.

The vses hereof are manifold and most comfortable.

Which haue not bowed their knees to Baal.

Euen so then at this present there is a remnant through the election of grace.

What then, Israell hath not obtained that he sought. 2. Section.

The rest were hardned.

Israell hath not obtained that he sought.

But the Election hath obtained it.

And the rest haue beene hardened.

The spirit of pricking or comunction.

The spirit of slumber.

Eyes that they should not see.

Let their table be made a snare, a net a stumbling blocke.

And euer bowe downe their backes.

Question. Through their fall.

Haue they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid.

By their fall, saluation is come to the Gentiles.

To prouoke them to follow them.

And might saue some of them.

What shall their receiuing bee but life from death?

If the first fruites be holy so is the whole lumpe, &c.

Some branches are broken of.

Thou being a wilde Oliue tree.

Fatnesse of the Oliue.

Made partakers of the roote and fatnesse of the Oliue— Boast not thy selfe against the branches.

Boast not thy selfe against them.

Thou bearest not the roote but the roote thee.

Be not high minded, but feare.

But feare.

The naturall braunches.

If God spared not the naturall branches.

The branches are cutte off that I might be grafted in.

Through vnbeliefe they are broken.

Be not high minded.

But feare.

If God spared not the naturall branches take heed he spare not thee.

Beholde Gods bountifulnesse and Gods seueritie.

Towards thee bountifulnesse, if thou continue in his bountie.

They haue the seed of grace and of faith remayning in them, and they alwaies keepe it.

They if they abide not still in vnbeliefe shalbe grafted in.

Towards them which haue fallen, seuerity.

But towards thee bountifulnesse.

If thou shalt continue in his bountifulnesse.

They shall be grafted in.

For God is able to graft them in againe.

How much more shall they that are by nature be grafted in their owne Oliue tree.

What is ment by all Israel.

I would not haue you ignorant of this mistery.

That you should not be wise in your owne conceipt.

Obstinacie is partly come to Israell, that is, it is not vniuersall nor perpetuall: and so all Israell shal be saued.

As it is written.

The Deliuerer shall come out of Sion: Christ the Redeemer.

And shall turne away (desections) and vngodli∣nesse from Iacob.

And this is my couenant to them.

When I shall take away their sinnes.

Beloued for the Fathers sake.

The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

The calling of God without Repentace.

As concerning the Gospell they are enemies.

But they are beloued for the Fathers sake.

O the deepnesse of the riches both of the wisdome, and knowledge of God!
