- At left, Horace Greeley grinds an organ labeled "New York Tribune." Next to Greeley, Abraham Lincoln rides a wooden rail labeled "Republican Platform" as if it were a hobbyhorse. He is tethered to Greeley's index finger and his mouth is padlocked. William Henry Seward stands behind Lincoln, dressed in a skirt and holding a wailing African American child. At right, Henry Jarvis Raymond is holding the arm of James Watson Webb, who is complaining about financial difficulties.
