John Brown, at left, rises from his grave and points an accusing finger at Jefferson Davis, who sits imprisoned in a birdcage hanging from a gallows. Davis wears a dress and bonnet and holds a sour apple. Below the hanging cage, African American men and women, resembling comic minstrel figures, celebrate.
"Entered according to act of Congress in 1865 by G. Querner in the clerk's office of the Sup. Court, D.C."
