- Includes table of reference showing locations of officers' quarters, hotels, hospitals, wharfs, churches, government buildings, ordinance buildings, storehouses, a 'contraband quarters' for holding slaves siezed by Union Army forces as contraband of war, barracks, batteries, sutlers' quarters, a naval blockade, and more.
- Camp Hamilton and the city of Hampton are also labeled in the distant background. The tents of encamped regiments, the '16. Mass.', '20. N.Y.,' 'U.C.G.,' '11. Cav.,' '1t. Del.' and the '20. Ind.' are visible on the shore near Camp Hamilton.
- "Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1862 by Jacob Cohen in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York."
