Christian praiers and meditations, to be vsed of and for all sorts and de∣grees of women, in their se∣uerall ages and cal∣lings.
A praier to be said of single women against all euill behaui∣our, vice, and vanitie, and for the obtaining of mo∣destie, chastitie, and all maidenlie vertues.
Another.
Or praie thus:
For the grace of Gods holie spirit, to resist all sinfull motions, and keepe pure the state of single life, praie.
Another praier in the behalfe of all Virgins, or single women, for the keeping of obedience, modestie, chastitie, puritie, and cleannesse of liuing.
Another praier to the same effect.
A praier to be said for all virgins and maids generallie.
A lamentation of anie woman, virgin, wife, or widowe, for hir virginitie or chastitie, lost by fornication or adulterie: not vnapt also to be vsed of anie Christian sinner, or sin∣full soule adulterated and fallen awaie by sinne from hir spirituall spouse Christ Iesus.

Another lamentation of a woman that hath lost hir virginitie and chastitie: or of a Christian soule polluted with sinne.
A praier of Marie Magdalens repentance.
Another praier of the woman taken in adulterie.

A praier to be said of a daughter in lawe that is married.

A praier to be said of anie woman, when she is woed of anie man to be his wife.
Another praier to be vsed of anie woman, before the solemnisation of hir marriage.
Another praier to be vsed of the man or woman, a little before they be married.
Another meditation and praier, declaring how Christ adorneth the nuptiall feast with his bodilie presence.
A praier to be vsed of a virgin newlie married togither with hir husband, the first night before they ioine togither in the dutie of marriage, after the godlie example of Sara and Tobias, who made and vsed the same before they laie togither, for the space of three daies; as appeareth, Tob. cap. 8. 9.
A sentence out of Tob. cap. 6. verse 17. worthie to be called to memorie of all new married folkes.
¶The Praier, or petition.
Another verie necessarie and fruitfull praier, to be often vsed of all married couples, for the obtei∣ning of a godlie, louing, and quiet life, in that honourable state of Ma∣trimonie.
Another praier to be vsed of married folkes, to liue chastlie and purelie in holie matrimonie, and to auoid the filthie lusts of whoredme.
Another praier to be vsed of such married couples, as where the woman is not past child-bearing.
Another praier for all wedded folkes generallie.
A praier to be said of a yong married woman, or, a VVife.
Another.
Another praier to be vsed of anie Noble woman, &c. when she is married, or afterward.
Another praier to be said of anie noble woman, ladie, gentlewoman, or modest matrone married.
A praier to be vsed of the wife that hath a froward and bitter husband, as a present remedie against the mischiefe of diorcement and separation.
A praier to be vsed of the wife for hir husband, before, or in his trauelling by land.

A praier to be vsed of the wife for hir husband being a Captaine or Souldiour, and gone a war-fare.
Or thus.
A fruitfull praier to be said with teares of all godlie women, in the time of bloudie battell, when they see their husbands, themselues, and their children and familie, citie and countrie in danger of destruction and sacking. by the cruell enimie.
A praier to be said of anie wife or daughter for hir hus∣band or father, being a Merchant-venterer, or otherwise making his voiage by Sea.
When your husband, or father, is come safe home from his iournie, giue God thanks there∣fore, and saie:
A praier and thanks-giuing to be said, when your hus∣band (or father) with his ship, is safelie come home from his voiage by sea.
When your husband, or friend, is in prison and endurance, or otherwise persecuted, or in trouble, and affliction, see that hartilie you praie for him, and saie as followeth.
When your husband or other friend is deliuered out of anie trouble, looke that you giue God hartie thanks therefore, and saie:
Praiers to be said of women with child, and in child-bed, and after their deliuerie.
Another praier of a woman with child before hir trauell.

In long and sore labour call earnestlie vpon God, and saie to your comfort the 6. 38. 51. 102. 30. and 142. Psalmes of Dauid, commonlie called the seauen penitenti all Psalmes, or the Psalme of a peni∣ten sinner:
The praier in long and dangerous trauell of child, to be vsed either of the woman hir selfe, or by the women about hir in hir behalfe.

Praiers and thanks-giuings to be vsed of women in child-bed, after their trauell and deliuerance, and at their churching or purifieng (as they call it.)
Another praier and thanks-giuing to be said of euerie faithfull woman in child-bed, after the time of hir de∣liuerance, vsed of the vertuous Ladie, Francis Aburgauennie.
Another praier of a woman in child-bed, after deliuerance.
Heere you may saie or sing to the glorie of God, and your owne edifieng, the 103. the 30. and the 116. Psalmes of Dauid.
Or you may giue thanks and praie as in the booke of com∣mon praier, and saie to your selfe, or with the Minister, as followeth.

Praiers to be said for women with child, before, or in trauell, by the Mid-wife, husband, or anie other man, or woman.
Another praier for a woman with child.

Another praier for a Queene being with a child.
Another praier for a Queene, Noble woman, or Ladie with child.
A generall forme of praier for all women with child, and in child-bed.
The same praier more breefe for women with child generallie.
A praier to be said of euerie Christian midwife for hir∣selfe, before she execute hir office.
Another praier to be said of the midwife, when she goeth about to doo hir office.
In doing hir office, let the midwife praie thus with hir selfe, and saie.
Or else thus.
If the woman haue verie sore labour, and be long in tra∣uelling, and in danger of death, then let the mid-wife, and all the women assistant about hir, kneele downe, and praie one after another, hartilie and arnestlie, as followeth.
Midwife. Let vs praie.
For a woman that trauelleth before hir time, and is in great perill, praie as followeth.
If the woman trauelling be at the point of death, praie as followeth.
Or praie thus.
Adde this blessing.
A praier of instruction to be vsed of the women in health, attendant about the sicke and languishing woman in sore trauell, for themselues.
Another godlie and effectuall praier to be hartilie said of the women assistant, if the woman in sore trauell or child-bed lie in the pangs of death, and be a passing this life.
When she is departing, and yeeldeth vp the ghost, then adde and saie this that followeth.
Another praier while she yeeldeth vp the ghost.
After hir departure let the women kneele downe also, and giue thanks as followeth.
A praier and thanks-giuing to be vsed of the mother, or women about hir, after the child is baptised.
If the child, or yong infant, be verie sicke, and lie sore pai∣ned with anie greefe, or whensoeuer else it be visited with anie dreadfull diseae, praie ouer it, and saie as followeth. Lord heare our praiers, And let our crie come vnto thee. Let vs praie.
Thanks-giuings for women after de∣liuerance of childe.
Here may be said or soong to the glorie of God, and your edifieng, the 8. the 127. the 128. Psalmes of Dauid, and Benedictus: or the song of Zacharie, which he made at the birth of his sonne Iohn the Baptist; as Luke, cap. 1. and in the beginning before the Psalmes in meeter.
An other thanks-giuing, to be said for the safe deliue∣rance of anie woman in child-bed, or at hir chur∣ching, as it is called.
The mothers praier for hir childrens good education.
Another praier to be vsed of euerie godlie mother, for the godlie proofe of hir child; made for the Ladie Lettice.
Another praier of the mother for hir child.
Another praier to be vsed of the mother, for the good education of hir youth and children.
Another praier for the godlie and vertuous life of thy childe.
A praier to be vsed of anie mother in lawe.
The mistresse or dames praier for hir selfe, and hir familie.

A praier to be said of a widowe, immediatlie after the death of hir husband.

A praier to be said of anie woman, generallie for all wo∣men, that they may haue in remembrance the fall of their grandmother Eue, and be moued therby the rather to turne to God, and liue in their calling ac∣cording to his will.
A praier to be said of all deuout women, for the light of ladie Vertues lampe, and recouerie of hir frends and hand-maids (grace, repentance, faith, hope, and saluation) lost, and for the ransoming of their soules from the captiuitie of sinne.
