A reply to William Fulke's: "A retentive, to stay good Christians, in true faith and religion, against the motives of Richard Bristow", 1580 (STC 11458) which was written in answer to Bristow's: "A briefe treatise .. to finde out the truthe", 1574 (STC 3799), and to Cardinal Allen's: "A defense .. of the Catholike churchies doctrine, touching purgatory", 1565, (STC 371) and his (Allen's) "A treatise made in defence of the lauful power .. of priesthod to remitte sinnes", 1567 (STC 372). ¶A REPLY TO FVLKE, In defence of M. D. Allens scroll of Articles, and booke of Purgatorie.
¶The eyght Chapter. To shew his vanitie in his foresaide rigorous exacting of playne Scripture, and great promises to bring playne Scripture, con∣ferring place with place so euidently. All the Scrip∣tures that he alleageth are examined, and answered.
¶The ninth Chapter. To defend, that the Doctors, as they be confessed to be ours in very many pointes, so they be ours in all pointes, and the Protestantes in no point: All the Doctors sayings that he aleageth are examined & answered.
